Welcome to The Homeschool Classroom! (2 Great Giveaways!)

by Angie on July 27, 2008 · 639 comments · contests/giveaways

Welcome Bloggy Giveaways readers!

You might notice that our blog is a little sparse right now, but that’s because we have just decided to launch a whole month early just to be able to see all of you!

If you are a homeschooler or discerning a call to homeschool, please be sure to come back or subscribe to our feed so that you won’t miss out on our exciting new blog! Heck…even if you’re not homeschooling, and you just want tips on helping your kids with their education, you might find our blog very useful.

We are currently at five regular contributors, and we are still looking for a few more. If you’re interested in writing weekly for The Homeschool Classroom, be sure to drop Angie an email at homeschooling (at) comcast.net. In your email, tell Angie a little about yourself, and be sure to include a link to your blog!

Some upcoming pieces at The Homeschool Classroom include curriculums that some of the writers are using this year, typical daily schedules, homeschooling children with special needs and learning disabilities, reviews of various materials, teaching home managements skills, and so much more! In this next week, there will also be interviews with each of the writers before other features begin.

Okay, so the giveaway part that you all are interested in — we will be giving away a $25 Amazon.com gift certificate *AND* a $10 Starbucks gift card. (Two different winners)

All you have to do to be entered to win is post a comment on this post. Be sure that there is a way to contact you (either through your blog or leave an email address.) AND — you need to tell us in your comment what one of your favorite things was to do in school. Maybe a certain book you read. Maybe a teacher that really inspired you. Perhaps your very favorite subject. Whatever! Just share something that you enjoyed while you were in school! (Please note — comments without that are not eligible to win, even if they are randomly selected.)

Comments will be closed at 11:59 pm CST on August 1st, so be sure to comment in time! Winners will be announced sometime on August 2nd.

Thanks for visiting — we hope to see you back again soon!

Love Amazon.com.

Hmmm… I remember in Middle School, the “enrichment” classroom had a computer, and I had a friend who would teach me how to program it. That was fun.

My favorite thing to do in school?! Wow! How can I pick just one thing?! (A bazillion memories are flooding my head!)

Okay, seriously, though… my fondest memories of school are when I went to DoD (Dept. of Defense) schools in Germany. One of the principals could “take off his thumb.” As an 8-year-old, I thought this was the coolest thing! Also, my third grade teacher was allowed to bring her black cocker spaniel, Shadow, with her to school. Shadow helped me feel physically better on at least one occasion when I felt nauseated. He/She (can’t remember which… sorry, Shadow!) licked me and made me feel better!

Thanks for this fun giveaway! Wish I had the ‘hutzpah’ to “apply” for the position here in the homeschool classroom. :)

My favorite subject was always English/Language Arts. I loved my first grade teacher Ms. Martin because she recognized potential in me and had me put into the AG program earlier than usual, but it truly helped me. I also loved my 11th grade English teacher Mrs. Badgett, and she is the reason that I am a high school English teacher today!

I remember the days when I was in school like it was yesterday! I was never very good in math and science, so English was the subject I excelled in. I loved to write short stories and study art literature! When we would get an assignment in English to write a paper, whether it be a book review or our own short stories I always got A’s! I think having that passion at an early age (I am talking about 9th grade and up) gave me the confidence I needed in High School to want to go on to college. I avoided Math and Science like the plague and because of my more creative strengths gave me the motivation I needed to move forward to continuing my education! Of course when I was in grade school it all seemed easy and I enjoy all my subjects! Thank you for letting us all use this vehicle to share our stories!
