Tell us a little about yourself and your blog
I am 33 years old. I am a stay at home to two beautiful children. I have been married for 10 years to a loving, supportive husband, Adam.
I used to teach elementary school (public) before I became a stay at home Mom. I enjoy so many things! Writing, of course, reading, listening to music, singing, musical theatre, shopping, traveling–just to name a few. I love spending time with my family and my best girlfriends. I have been homeschooling for 4 years. My son is in 2nd grade this year and my daughter in K4. I started a blog to nurture my love of writing and to share our life experiences with family and friends.

Connor is 7 but will be 8 in September…Julia is 4…(see above for their grades).
Do you use a specific approach to homeschooling or a more eclectic approach?
I would definitely say my homeschooling style is eclectic. I’ve tried lots of different curricula, but theory wise I would say Charlotte Mason is probably my favorite. I like some ideas from the classical approach, some traditional, too, really just whatever fits our needs for that season.
What do you hope that your children will gain from homeschooling?
A foundation in Christ as the One and Only, a self-motivated desire to learn more about things they’re interested in, to be educationally open-minded (knowing that we can learn in lots of different ways), to be grounded in faith and family
Have your children exclusively been homeschooled or have they attended public or private school at some point?
My son attended private school for K4 for about 6 weeks, but I knew from the beginning the Lord was calling me to homeschool. It was one of the greatest decisions we’ve ever made and we’ve been homeschooling ever since. My daughter has been with me from the get go.
Why did you decide that you wanted to be a writer for The Homeschool Classroom?
Because I have loved writing since I was very young and I love homeschooling! I enjoy sharing ideas, convictions, hopes, issues, etc. and thought this would be a great opportunity to be a part of something that gives homeschooling a voice.
Is there anything else that you want to share to help us get to know you better?
Let’s see, I am most blessed to have been given the gift of being a wife and mother and consider it pure joy but there’s nothing I am more thankful for than the privilege of knowing Jesus as my Savior and having a personal relationship with Him.
