All About Homophones

A homophone is a word that is pronounced the same as another word, but differs in meaning. Such as rose (the flower), and rose (stood up). Often, the words are spelled differently too, like pair, pare and pear. These words can be tricky for children to learn how to spell, and use the appropriate spelling when writing.

All About Spelling, a complete spelling curriculum, has come out with a brand new book, that was just printed and ready for sale this month called “All About Homophones”.

This book provides multiple game and puzzle elements for 1st through 8th grade, to create a fun yet educational experience in homophone spelling and usage.

This fun book includes:

  • Graphic Oranginzers
  • Homophone Worksheets
  • Crossword Puzzles
  • Card Games
  • Tongue Twisters
  • Riddles and Puns and more!

Marie Rippel is the creator and writer of the material. She gives, parents, homeschoolers and teachers strategies that work in the understanding of spelling and its rules. All About Homophones is just one part of their broader curriculum, that is designed for the student to succeed.

If you are interested in teaching your children spelling beyond the rote spelling lists, All About Spelling may be just what you’re looking for. Their website is located at All About Spelling. I also have a review of the base program at my blog Three Different Directions.

At the time I wrote this post, the All About Homophones book, was not yet for sale on their site. Should that still be the case and you are interested in it, contact Marie using their website, and she will be able to give you the information you are looking for.

Tammy’s blog is located at Three Different Directions. She has more reviews of homeschooling material there. Click the “review” link at the top to find them.
