Keeping your friends and family in the homeschool loop

“We are keeping a blog this year for my son’s portfolio of work with homeschooling. You can make them private even – only viewable by those you invite – which is the option he selected. He’s learning about blogging as he does it for his own personal non-school blog also. This is also a great way to share your “school” with extended family who don’t quite understand what you do all day as homeschoolers.”

I just wanted to say, I love that idea! Many of you may know my family recently moved to Alaska and we are far away from our loved ones. I use my personal blog to post about about things that I do, pictures of our area, and occasionally I’ll mention the kids and school. I think having to document what they do each week for someone other than mom or dad is a fantastic idea! I remember being asked “what did you do in school today?” and replying with “I don’t remember” and I see the same thing happening here.

Thank you, reader, for your fabulous suggestion! I can see it being a great asset to our school day, plus it’ll help keep Granny (hi mom!) in the loop, as well as others who might be curious about what we do all day. Who knows, maybe I’ll even link it here so you can read all about it!
