The Inauguration

With the inauguration of a new president on the horizon, eight years of a legacy of one man will be historically shelved, and four years of another will begin.

The year 2009 for our family, begins new opportunities as well. This will be the year we can apply for U.S. citizenship.
An article in our most recent homeschool association newsletter brought me to pause, it contained a quote from the then president-elect Abraham Lincoln in which he referred to himself as a “humble instrument in the hands of the Almighty.”

Wow! Do we view ourselves as that in our everyday lives, humble instruments in the hands of the Almighty?

With a new leader in the wings (whether or not you cast a vote in his favor), we still have the responsibility of upholding him in prayer.

Leave a comment here and let us know your plans this year on what you and your family are doing to make our country a better place.

For this week, I’m trying to share my sense of awe and gratefulness that in our country, we transfer power democratically and under the rule of law.

I find it awesome and spine tinkling when the baton is passed from one president to another. Above all, I think we should take time this week to consider how greatful we should be that this democratic rule-based transfer of governance has worked since 1776 with interruptions only from the civil war and a few other asterixes.
