Hot Summer Months Ahead

It gets blistering hot in sunny Florida so we don’t always want to go outside and play during the summer. So, I’m planning a weekly movie day watching some classic movies. I’ve taken the book To Kill a Mockingbird and 24 Other Videos by Randy Larson, and picked out several ones to view during the heat of the day.
The book has language arts activities to do along side the movies including:
  • plot sequence
  • homonyms
  • prepositional phrases
  • adverb phrases and clauses
  • spelling
  • symbolism
  • writing
  • character analysis
  • comic devices
  • poetry
  • identifying characters

There is a brief summary of each movie so that you can decide which ones are suitable for your family. The book is geared towards the middle schooled child. Then there are several activities that you can spread out over the course of the week. I think this will be a great way to sharpen some of the skills that we’ve learned and stay nice and cool inside!

I love To Kill a Mockingbird. One of my favorite books and movies.
