A Couple of Fun Website Activities

The internet has an incredible amount of resources for free teaching tools.  I have so many websites bookmarked, but not enough time to use them all.  Here are a couple that I recently came across that I would like to share with you.

The first is a new site put out by Disney called Disney Digital Books.  The new and classic Disney stories are now available interactively from any computer.

The books have a “magic pen” that you can use to click and hear words aloud, highlight the text, turn the pages, and see definitions.

There is a storybook activity to create your own books full of original Disney characters and you can print them.

Over 500 books are available with the Disney characters your younger and older kids love.

This is a subscription based service but you can Try It For Free, there are 7 sample books, 1 of which is a Look and Listen book and 1 which is Story Builder activity.  No credit card is required for the sample.

The other site is from Mackin Educational Resources and Journey Back in Time, on October 12th, they started a month long Citizenship Challenge.

The Citizenship Challenge is an interactive game based on the questions used by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services for their Naturalization Test. Students can study for the game by clicking a link to view videos covering many of the questions.

Are your students prepared for the challenge?
