Angie, Great post and really helpful guidelines for starting any homeschool co-op.

In my book, Homeschool Co-ops: How to Start Them, Run Them and Not Burn Out I call them the 4 W's and H (Who, What, Where, When and How Much). I have a sample chapter, "Your First Planning Meeting," posted at HomeschoolCo-ops.com, for everyone to read. It may be helpful in addition to your excellent advice.

I would add that a mom should not start this by herself, or she will burn out. Get help. It is called a co-op (short for cooperation) for a reason. Everyone should pitch in and help. A co-op is not a drop-off babysitting service.

I hope your post, my book and sample chapter inspire homeschool moms to start a pre-school co-op. It can be very small and only last for a few weeks at first. If you like it, ask for help and continue.

Carol Topp, CPA
HomeschoolCo-ops.com

Thanks for this article. We started our homeschool group this past year, the majority of the kids in the group are school age (1st - 4th grades). However we are noticing an influx of little ones and need to do something for them. We are trying to figure out how to work in a preschool time in with our classes for the older kids. This gives us some food for thought.
