Okay, it’s not all new. We’re the same Homeschool Classroom that you’ve come to know over the last year and a half, but we’re in a whole new location with a whole new look. (Thanks so much to Darcy from Graphically Designing for all of her hard work! If you are ever in need of designing services, she should be your go-to girl.)
If you are a current Homeschool Classroom reader and you read through either a feed subscription (like Google Reader, Bloglines, or the like), you will need to unsubscribe from our old feed and add this new one. This site has a whole new feed, and we’ll miss you if you don’t come along on this move.
Likewise, if you have one of our buttons on your blog sidebar, then you’ll want to update it to our new button on our sidebar. Just copy all of the coding in the box under the 125×125 button. (Oh, and if you do have one of our buttons on your blog sidebar, let me also say, “Thanks a bunch! We appreciate it!”)
Our Secret “Alliance”
On our old site, I told everyone to come and read about our secret alliance. That makes me feel a little bit like I need theme music and to be peeking around a corner before jumping around it.
Without further delay, I want to share with you all how very excited I am to be the co-founder of Homeschool Lifestyle Media along with my dear friend, Brenda from The Tie that Bind Us (who is also a writer here at The Homeschool Classroom, as well as the founder of Curriculum Choice). Homeschool Lifestyle Media is now the umbrella under which both The Homeschool Classroom and Curriculum Choice now stand. We are very excited to be working together, and we have a lot of plans for the future.
The Giveaway
I’m also very excited to share a big giveaway with all of you! I have been gathering items (all purchased myself, none are provided by another entity) for this for a couple of months now, so I hope you’ll be as excited about this giveaway as I am. Each item in the giveaway represents things that my family or I really enjoy.
The giveaway items:
1. A Completer Set of Math-U-See blocks. We don’t use Math-U-See, but I love having the blocks to use with the kids to help make math concepts more hands on.

While we have not used this specific program from Winter Promise, we did start using Winter Promise’s social studies program this year and have really enjoyed it. 9. A set of four train stamps (set B1132 – CC Train Set) from Close to My Heart – These are the kind that need an acrylic block to stick to. They are super cute and would be great for cards or scrapbooking (which is another thing I love).
10. A $10 Amazon.com Gift Certificate – Who doesn’t love shopping on Amazon, right? I know I do!
How To Enter Giveaway
This giveaway is open to all of our readers (first time readers or long time readers), as well as the entire writing staff of both Curriculum Choice and The Homeschool Classroom (except both Brenda and myself).
There are multiple ways to enter, and each needs to be placed in its own unique comment. Each time you enter, be sure to write down which prize numbers you are interested in. I don’t want to send a Pre-K handwriting book with someone who only has high schoolers, for instance. Please let us know which prizes you want in your comment.

Oh, yes…forgot this part! If you could possibly write about homeschool success/failures. For example, curriculums that didn’t work (you don’t have to mention the name of the curriculum, though it would be helpful. But I understand if you can’t). ANother example, schedules that worked/didn’t work. Such as getting up earlier, waking the kids up earlier, starting later, when to have recess, etc. Thanks!

I have been reading your site for a long time and love it. I would love to read more ideas about what to do with little ones while homeschooling the big kids. My family just returned from China with our newly adopted daughter. She will be 2 on Wednesday. We were in China for almost 3 weeks in December. Needless to say, we have not done any official school since the week before Thanksgiving! We tried today, but I am exhausted trying to entertain our newest addition while attempting to teach anything to the other two kiddos. Ideas more along the 12-18 month mark would be greatly appreciated! Thank you for all you do!

I am interested to hear how other new homeschooling parents have dealt with their kids being “different” than the other kids, such as not being as willing to participate in groups at birthday parties, etc. My girls are 4 and 2 and they sometimes are happier playing in smaller groups, while their peers (who go to preschool) stand in lines and do the “school” stuff. I don’t really care if my kids stand in lines, but I know it makes them kind of stand out and it can get me down. Does that make sense? Thanks for the giveaway!

Just leaving my comment this time…had a conversation today with a dear friend who also homeschools about the differences in our philosophies of homeschooling…my three-hour-teaching-day where we “get everything done” versus her six-hour-teaching-day at a lower grade level…etc. There’s so much stress involved in comparing our homeschools…would love to hear your take on this…

From Michigan Momma to Joy Homeliving to Raising Arrows to here. I follow Michigan Momma(because I am one also) and check out her links from time to time. Like today. One link led to another and here I am. It is my second year homeschooling, two out of three children this year. I related to what I read on Raising Arrows and followed her suggestion to visit here because as she said, it can be overwhelming to check out all the homeschool info available. As well as intimidating. I enjoy reading what other wives/homeschool moms are doing, thinking, feeling….so thank you for your website/blog and all the info and encouragement you provide.

I like the new site!
My oldest is just now 3 and we are going to home school. I appreciate all the information.
I am interested in #1, 3, 4, 6 & 8. I almost bought Karen’s book at this past Hearts at Home Conference in MI. I love Hearts at Home! I will miss this years conference since they no longer have one in MI and I’m due in March with baby #3.
My first choice would be the Handwriting W/O tears … my preschooler doesn’t just cry, she RUNS AWAY at the idea of writing.
But any of the other prizes would be put to good use as well … either to bless someone else, or to hold onto for my girl.

I have enjoyed reading your blog for some time now. There are so many good prizes! How can I choose? 1. Math-U-See blocks-can you ever get enough of them with a math-lover/builder in the family? 2. I have been wondering about Winter Promise Units…4.A pioneer cookbook…just up our alley 7.Felt cookies would go nicely with the felt pasta I bought the kids for Christmas or 10.
