I, too, struggled with this when I pulled my son out of PS becuase I didn't want him to feel "left behind." What I soon realized was that the standards in this book weren't even the standards adopted by our local PS. So whose standards ARE these anyway? What I've realized by allowing us to be a little less stringent and go with the flow, he absorbs the information so much more than if we kept up with an unrealistic pace. While I think there should be some minimum standards.... We now just eat baby carrots while we lay on the trampoline and read books. Laugh more, learn what is exciting and do the "workbooks" that are necessary. Silly math and English!
