We are looking to expand our fantastic writing team by five more writers. Speaking of our fantastic team — have you noticed how wonderful the posts have been lately? Wow! I am impressed every time I have received a new article from the writers.
We need four article (post) writers, as well as one writer who would be interested in only writing a post of links (such as some of these).
What does writing of The Homeschool Classroom consist of?
- One required article/post submission per month (you may send in more, but you must meet that requirement)
- Articles are 250 – 1000 words in length (though if it makes sense to do less than 250, that is fine, and we really strive to keep under to 1000 word mark, unless it warrants being longer)
- Articles need to be well written grammatically and well formatted
- Topic ideas are pretty open (and you’ll mostly come up with them on your own); Posts that are solely review posts of homeschooling resources or materials are not allowed, as those are published on our sister site, The Curriculum Choice.
- You will have a byline (that you write) at that bottom of each article, as well as a bio on the author page, a 125×125 button on the “Visit the Blogs” page, and a link to your Twitter account on the “Follow Them on Twitter” page.
What topics are we looking for?
Although nobody is obligated to stick to one topic as a writer, we would be especially interested in some writers who fall into the following categories or could write about them often:
- Kids Arts and Crafts
- Creative Ways to Encourage Writing
- One writer who has not homeschooled yet but is committed to beginning to homeschool next school year (with at least one child in elementary – high school age)
- Kindergarten
- Has a student in high school
- Large family (five or more children)
- Unschooling, Montessori, or Waldorf Approach
- Homeschooling and Running an Etsy Shop or Small Business (Maybe with Suggestions for Running a Home-based Business or Etsy Shop — does not have to specifically be about homeschooling)
- Blogging Tips and Ideas
- Some other topic/idea that makes you unique! (Please specify)
Then again, maybe you feel called to write for The Homeschool Classroom and you don’t fall into any of those categories. That’s okay — just drop me an email and give me your ideas.
If you are interested in writing, drop me (Angie) an email with “writer application” in the subject line. Please include:
- your name (first only is fine)
- blog URL
- a little bit about yourself
- any writing ideas you have
- links to two or three posts that you are particularly proud of.
Thank you!

The email would not go through, could you please email me. I have a question about these positions.
Thank you,
Lesley

I was wondering if these positions have been filled, and if not, what the time frame is for filling them??
Candice — I was out of town for about half a week, so I haven’t had a chance to start looking through the emails yet. So, the positions have not yet been filled. Those that are invited to write won’t start writing until May, so it would be my hope to have sent out emails by sometime in mid April.
Let me know if I can help with anything else. :)
