Mary is the mother of one elementary and one middle school child. She has been married to Hal for 15 years. After earning an undergraduate degree in Music Education she taught public school for ten years and while doing so earned a Masters in Educational Administration. Once her first child was born she decided to stay at home full time and operate a small piano studio part time from her home.
After putting her own child in the public schools, she began to realize she and her husband could educate their children more effectively at home, and Homegrown Learners was born. In addition to homeschooling she still gives piano lessons and volunteers in her local homeschool group and Lutheran church. She blogs about all things education (with a special emphasis on music in your homeschool!).
